OTTAWA TO HOST
2014 NATIONAL WOMEN’S LEAGUE RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIPS
(TORONTO, ON) – Rugby Ontario is pleased to announce that our province has been selected to host the 2014 National Women’s League Rugby Championships.
Ottawa has been confirmed as the hosts of the tournament, which will be held in the summer of 2014 at Twin Elm Rugby Park, Eastern Ontario’s premier rugby facility. Rugby Ontario will be working directly with the Eastern Ontario Rugby Union to work out all of the logistics surrounding the 2014 NWL Championship, and to deliver these games.
“Having the opportunity to bring the best women’s rugby in Canada to Ottawa will be a fantastic experience for both Ottawa and Ontario,” says Rugby Ontario Executive Director Andrew Backer. “Twin Elm Rugby Park is one of the best rugby facilities in Canada, and are the ideal hosts for the 2014 NWL Championships.”
Rugby Ontario continues to work with Rugby Canada to finalize the dates for this competition, as tournament officials will be working around the fact that it is the year of the 2014 Women’s Rugby World Cup, which will be held in France from Aug. 1-17.
Information regarding tournament details, including the finalization of dates, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Again, Rugby Ontario is extremely excited to be hosting the top-tiered Canadian women’s rugby tournament of 2014.
