Becoming a Referee


Interested in becoming a referee? Refereeing is a rewarding path, and a great way to stay in the game!



STEP ONE

Create a World Rugby Passport.


STEP TWO

All referees must complete the following three certificates:
- Rugby Ready - A Collective Responsibility
- Concussion Management for the General Public
- Laws of the Game - Exam
*Remember to save each PDF file when the certificates are completed


STEP THREE

Choose your clinic. Create a profile at http://training.rugbycanada.ca


STEP FOUR

Upload your certificates when you register at http://training.rugbycanada.ca


STEP FIVE

Register as a referee with Rugby Ontario / Rugby Canada through the Sport Ngin registration system: http://members.rugbycanada.ca/page/show/2224867-on-club-page

Sub-Steps
1) Create a Sport Ngin username and password
2) Follow Sport Ngin's steps to complete registration through their system
a) All match officials must register with a club.  This is can be based on affiliation or geography.
3) Match official is found under the club management section
4) To complete registration, registrants must successfully submit payment (Referee Registration Dues Breakdown)
5) Registrants will receive an automatic confirmation email once the registration is complete and approved

STEP SIX

To start refereeing games, sign up for a profile on Who's the Ref, Rugby Ontario's referee appointment database. Once a profile is created, you'll be added to our referee appointment distribution list.


STEP SEVEN


Sign up for the Rugby Ontario Referee Newsletter. The newsletter, sent a minimum of four times per year, contains development information and details surrounding referee events, clinics, and development sessions in Ontario.
