(TORONTO, ON) – Rugby Ontario is proud to announce that two of our staff members have been promoted into new roles within the organization. Nicole Kovacs will now take on her new role as Coach and Match Official Development Manager, while Larissa Mankis has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer.
Nicole joined Rugby Ontario in October of 2015, as Rugby Development Coordinator. Her major responsibilities in her new role include recruitment and retention of match officials, organization of clinics and management of referees. Nicole completed a Bachelor of Physical Education at Brock University and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts degree in Applied Health Sciences, specializing in Health and Physical Education. Nicole’s rugby background includes playing club rugby with the Niagara Wasps, as well as university rugby with the Brock Badgers. Nicole is also a match official for Rugby Ontario.
Larissa started with the organization in January of 2014 as Rugby Development Coordinator. She then transitioned into a High Performance and Finance Coordinator role, before being promoted into the Chief Operating Officer position. Her responsibilities in her new role include overseeing the organization’s operations and logistics, as well as implementing new initiatives to grow the organization and the game of rugby. Larissa completed a Masters in Sports Administration at the University of Ottawa and has industry experience with T1 Agency, Ottawa Sports and Entertainment and as Manager of the Carleton University Women’s Rugby team.
The promotion of both Nicole and Larissa will go hand-in-hand with the recent trend of transition and growth within the organization and the sport, as a whole. Nicole and Larissa will bring extensive experience and commitment to their new roles. They will continue to be at the forefront of many essential aspects of the day-to-day operations of Rugby Ontario.
