The McCormick Cup semifinals take place this Saturday in what is sure to be host of some great rugby action. The Oakville Crusaders travel to Brantford for a battle agains the No. 1 ranked Harlequins, while Balmy Beach and the Toronto Scottish meet up at Fletcher's Fields in a rematch of last year's final.

Oakville Crusaders will be travelling to Brantford this weekend to face off against the Marshall Premiership Champions, the Harlequins. Both teams are coming off high-scoring matches that were heavily in their favour, and their high scoring ways will likely continue, as the two attacking-minded sides face off. An interesting piece of added drama for the match is the fact that both sides will be without key players. Both Rory McDonell of Brantford and Andrew Ferguson of Oakville are in action with Canada’s ‘A’ side at the Americas Pacific Challenge in Uruguay.

Meanwhile Balmy Beach will be facing off against the Toronto Scottish in a rematch of the 2015 McCormick Cup Final. Both teams came off very narrow wins, with the Scottish beating Lindsay 11-0 and Balmy Beach narrowing out London 20-19. Last year when these two met in the McCormick Cup final their tie ended in a 27-15 victory for the Beach. Will Toronto Scottish get payback or will the Beach go on to successfully defend their championship?

CONSOLATION SEMI-FINALS

Meanwhile in the Consolation Finals, Ajax Wanderers will be travelling to Fletcher’s Fields to face off against the Markham Irish and the Toronto Nomads will be taking a trip to Stoney Creek. Both Stoney Creek and Ajax had byes in round two, meaning that they are coming off of two-week rests. It will be interesting to see whether the two sides come out stronger because of it or if they will have to shake off the rust, in the process.

GEE GAGE CUP

The third round of the Gee Gage Cup is underway this weekend, as well. The Oakville Crusaders Seconds take on Balmy Beach Seconds, while Toronto Scottish Seconds head up Highway 400 for their match against Barrie. Bay Street Pigs win their match by default (20-0), as the Aurora Barbarians have withdrawn.
