Rugby Ontario welcomes group of interns to the office ahead of 2018 season

(WHITBY, ON) – Rugby Ontario is excited to welcome a new group of interns to our office for the New Year! We will have four interns joining us at our head office in Whitby, where they will help in preparation and planning for the 2018 season. Joining our team for the first four months of 2018 are Jackson Amos, David Bushell, Caleb Caunce and Henry Do.


Jackson Amos – jamos@rugbyontario.com - High Performance Intern

Jackson joins our team as a High Performance Intern and will work alongside High Performance Coordinator, Sean Medeiros and High Performance Manager, Paul Connelly. Jackson’s role will include administration, scheduling and planning for the 2018 Provincial sevens and fifteens programs. Jackson attends Brock University and is pursuing a degree in Sports Management. While at Brock, he is also playing for the Men’s rugby team. He played with Ontario’s provincial program in 2014 and 2015, as well. His experience within the sports industry includes volunteering at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and working as a Social Media Coordinator for Brock’s Men’s Rugby team.


David Bushell – dbushell@rugbyontario.com - Rugby Development Intern

David joins our organization as a Rugby Development Intern. He will work alongside our Rugby Development Coordinator, Ryan Jones and Rugby Development Manager, David Patterson with Growing the Game Workshops, Rookie Rugby administration, Club Membership renewals and Annual General Meeting preparations. David completed a BA in Honours Political Science and is currently a graduate student at Durham College in the Sport Business Management program. He has 6+ years of customer service experience in a variety of industries. He is a lifelong soccer player and also played rugby and football.


Caleb Caunce – ccaunce@rugbyontario.com - Competitions, Events and Marketing Intern

Caleb comes on board to work as a Competitions, Events and Marketing Intern. Working alongside Competitions, Events and Marketing Manager, Joe Schissler, Caleb will assist in planning for the 2018 provincial league seasons, event planning and various other areas of the organization. Caleb graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and is currently a graduate student at Durham College in the Sport Business Management program. He has previous sport experience working with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment as part of their promotions team, as well as working with the Canadian Basketball League and Laurier Athletics. He has past experience playing basketball, baseball and running track and field competitively and is excited about learning more about rugby.


Henry Do – hdo@rugbyontario.com - Coach and Match Official Development Intern

Henry will be joining Rugby Ontario, as a Coach and Match Official Development Intern. He will assist Coach and Match Official Development Manager, Nicole Kovacs in administration of upcoming Coach and Match Official courses. Henry is currently enrolled in the Recreation and Leisure Services program at Georgian College in Barrie, where he plays for the Georgian Grizzlies Men’s Rugby team. In 2017, he was named the OCAA Men’s Rugby Player of the Year. Before attending Georgian, he was a member of the Brampton Beavers. Rugby Ontario will welcome Henry to the office on January 23, 2018.


Rugby Ontario looks forward to having this group of interns join us and assist with the administration and planning of rugby in our province. We also hope that these group of future sports administrators will gain valuable experience from their time working with our organization.
