Ontario's aspiring professional rugby franchise, the Ontario Arrows have their home opener in Toronto on Saturday!

Rugby Ontario Community,

This Saturday, the Ontario Arrows will host their inaugural home match at York University’s Alumni Stadium in Toronto. The clash with Rugby United New York (MLR Associate Club) will be the first of its kind in Canada, as the the Arrows look towards potential inclusion in the Major League Rugby (MLR).

With the exciting thought of a professional rugby union team in Ontario, we ask the Ontario rugby community to get behind the Ontario Arrows players and staff – many of whom also represent their local clubs, schools and the Ontario Blues Senior Men’s team.

The Ontario Arrows and their potential entry into the MLR may create a potential opportunity for many young male players across our province and country. The reality being that they may have the opportunity to one day play rugby at the professional level in North America.

Major League Rugby has seen immense success in its early days. The season hasn’t officially started, but in the exhibition season there have been tremendous crowds out to support North American professional rugby. In the Ontario Arrows victory over the MLR’s Utah Warriors in Salt Lake City, the teams played in front of nearly 5,000 attendees. The Houston Sabercats have already been surpassing records set by previous North American professional rugby leagues, with their 5,500-person showing in an exhibition match against the Seattle Saracens. With these being preseason matches, there is no doubt that the rugby community should be extremely excited for the future of professional rugby in North America.

In a big announcement on Tuesday, the Arrows announced a partnership with Super Rugby's Hurricanes. With the interest in the future of professional rugby in North America from such a rugby powerhouse, intrigue and excitement is building for the future.

Let’s support the Ontario Arrows this Saturday and beyond. If you are in the area and able to support, we will see you on Saturday April 14, 2018 at York University’s Alumni Stadium for the 4:30pm kickoff.

Tickets to Ontario’s home opener can be purchased online at www.ontarioarrowsrugby.com ($15 online), as well as at the gate on the day of the match ($20 at the gate). Tickets for youth aged 16 and under, as well as United States citizens (with a valid ID) are free.

Go Arrows Go!

Yours in Rugby,
