Rugby Ontario growing game at MLSE leadership event

(TORONTO, ON) - On Tuesday August 14, 2018, Rugby Ontario had the pleasure of conducting two Rookie rugby sessions at the MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment) LaunchPad Boy’s Leadership Camp. Members of Rugby Ontario’s development team on hand included Development Manager David Patterson and Development Interns Rachel Walton and Daniel Cooper.

The session at the Boys’ Leadership Camp was part of Rugby Ontario’s ongoing support of the MLSE LaunchPad, which has included undertaking Rookie Rugby training for their staff. During the day, nearly 50 boys aged 11-14 participated in the Rookie Rugby activities.

“Rugby Ontario is delighted to be able to support MLSE LaunchPad in their fantastic programs to help youth facing barriers,” explained Patterson. “MLSE LaunchPad’s use of sport and physical activity to build healthy communities and help people reach their full potential aligns well with Rugby Ontario’s mission to foster a culture of inclusiveness both on and off the field of play.”

Rugby Ontario’s development team is already looking forward to returning to the MLSE LauchPad to work with the program’s Girl’s Leadership Camp on August 21, 2018. Rugby Ontario would like to thank Bess Lennox and all of the MLSE staff for their support on the day.
