Rugby Ontario hosting Minor Festival and Junior Cup Day at Fletcher’s this weekend
(MARKHAM, ON) - Rugby Ontario is extremely excited to be hosting two marquee year-end events at Fletcher’s Fields in Markham this weekend. Rugby Ontario’s Minor Festival and Junior Cup Day are two events that wrap up the minor and junior rugby season, while also providing a great experience for participants. The Minor Festival is set to kick off the weekend on Saturday, while the Junior Cup Day is on Sunday.
On Saturday August 25, 2018, minor teams in Under 7, Under 9 and Under 11 age categories will descend upon Fletcher’s Fields in Markham for their final flag rugby festival of the year.Â
There will be 80 teams from 20 different Rugby Ontario clubs competing across all three age categories, with more than 750 youth being involved in the day.
Unique to this year’s Minor Festival will be ‘Rugbyville’ – a festival-like atmosphere which will include an inflatable rugby field, City of Markham Fire Department display, target passing, bouncy castle, popcorn stand, face painting and a Honda Canada display. ‘Rugbyville’ will be set up on Field 2 of Fletcher’s Fields for the whole day on Saturday. Because of last-minute drop-outs and changes, the 2018 Minor Festival schedule will be available at the Fletcher's Fields gate.

On Sunday August 26, 2018, Fletcher’s Fields will be the venue for a Provincial Championship for Under 15 and Under 17 teams. Under 13 teams will also be participating in the event, with their wrap-up day taking place at both Fletcher’s Fields (Girls) and Markham Irish Rugby Club (Boys).
