Rugby Ontario hosts minor and junior wrap-up events in Markham

(MARKHAM, ON) - The junior and minor club seasons wrapped up this past weekend in Markham with the annual Minor Festival, U13 Wrap Up Days and Junior Cup Day. Over the two days at Fletcher’s Fields and Markham Irish RFC, over 2000 youth were involved in culminating events.

On Saturday, Rugby Ontario hosted the annual wrap-up Minor Festival at Fletcher’s Fields with more than 80 teams and 20 clubs participating in the U7, U9 and U11 rugby festival. It was an entertaining and enjoyable day with a festival atmosphere including inflatable bouncy castles, target practice, fire truck and various vendors on site. Not to mention, the youth had an enjoyable experience with flag rugby competition throughout the day. A highlight of the day was the girls-only games that occurred at the beginning of each division’s timeslot. The amount of smiling faces that came by and participated was a true testament of the growth of the women’s rugby in our province and country.
