Fresh off the club’s recent announcement that it has secured the exclusive negotiating rights for an Ontario-based Major League Rugby team and intend to enter and compete in MLR in 2019, the Ontario Arrows are extending their successful 2018 exhibition season by hosting a late-summer fixture against MLR’s Glendale Raptors.

The match will be played on Sunday, Sept. 16 at York University (York Lions Stadium – 1 p.m. kickoff).

Glendale, MLR’s regular season champions, is coming off a league-leading 8-2-0 record (40 points) in the league’s inaugural season. The Raptors’ strong regular season play paved the way for an eventual berth in the MLR Championship, where the Colorado outfit narrowly fell to the Seattle Seawolves.

Ontario received their first taste of MLR action this past spring, showing the club was up to the task by earning a road draw with the Houston Sabercats 28-28 and an away victory over the Utah Warriors 24-20. Buoyed by a pair of victories over the Boston Mystics, the Arrows finished their five-match spring exhibition schedule against club opponents with an impressive 3-1-1 record. Ontario would later play in a two-match spring series against the Canada Selects, participating in key fixtures as part of Canada’s national senior men’s program’s preparations for the June international window.
