The McCormick Cup quarter finals took place this past weekend. Fans of Marshall rugby were not disappointed when the top eight teams ran onto the field on Saturday. The two top seed teams had entirely different outcomes in their McCormick Cup openers. The first-seed Brantford Harlequins defeated the Stoney Creek Camels handily by a score of 90-0, but the Toronto Scottish met their match in the tenth-seed Burlington Centaurs, who upset the second-seed Toronto side. Markham was victorious over Crusaders and Balmy Beach defeated Lindsay on the road.

The semi-finals are now set with Brantford taking on Balmy Beach and Markham taking on Burlington. Previews of each match can be found below.

The Cup Final will take place at Fletcher’s Fields on September 29, 2018 with further event details including streaming to be announced.

It's a rematch of the 2017 McCormick Cup final this weekend as the Brantford Harlequins and Balmy Beach meet up in the semi-finals. Both teams have dominated so far in the playoffs and as always, it will be a great rivalry contest. Winner gets to return to the Cup final on September 29, 2018.

Markham Irish (3) v Burlington Centaurs (10

The Burlington Centaurs are the Cinderella story of the McCormick Cup playoffs so far. The only Marshall Championship team remaining, the Centaurs have upset Marshall Premiership teams twice to make it to the semi-finals against third-seed Markham Irish. Most notably, the Centaurs defeated the second-seed Toronto Scottish last weekend 18-8. Markham has done well in their first two matches of the McCormick Cup playoffs and look to end the Centaurs' McCormick Cup run.
