Eastern Canadian Rugby Championships Schedule

August 8th, 2019

(KINGSTON, ON)  - Rugby Ontario is very excited to host the 2019 Eastern Canadian U16 /U18 Rugby Championships at Queen's University.  The tournament will consist of 30 teams from 6 different provinces. Teams will be competing in one of four divisions: U16 boys, U16 girls, U18 boys and U18 girls. The tournament will run from Monday, August 12th to Saturday, August 17th, with the pool stages culminating on the 14th.    The semi-finals and finals will be played on Friday and Saturday.

The tournament schedule was designed with player welfare at the forefront, as teams will only play one game per day and the 15th  is designated as a rest and development day. The focus of this event is "athlete development and identification”. Staff from the Rugby Canada U18 Men's and Women's Programs will be on hand evaluating players as they continue on their pathway to the "RED JERSEY”. Both age groups will be competing in International competitions at the end of 2019.

From a Provincial standpoint, Rugby Ontario will be using the tournament to select full Provincial Sides at U15 Boys, U16 Boys and U16/17 Girls levels. These full Provincial Sides will travel to England in November on a 10-day development tour.

Rugby Ontario would like to thank Gilbert, the official ball and equipment sponsor of the Eastern Canadian Rugby Championships.

All matches played on Nixon Field will be available via stream on Rugby Ontario Youtube Channel
