Ontario Blues 2020 Senior Women's Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 27th, 2020

(WHITBY, ON) - Rugby Ontario is pleased to announce the 2020 Ontario Senior Blues Women’s Program details and schedule. The Senior Blues season begins with two regional trial sessions on Saturday, March 7th at the Whitby Dome, and Kingston 1000 Islands Sportsplex. There will also be another regional trial session at both locations on March 28th. Trials are open to all women born in 2001 or earlier.

“The Rugby Ontario High Performance Program is very excited for the upcoming 2020 Senior Women's Provincial Season” said Paul Connelly, Rugby Ontario’s High-Performance Manager. “The change in program structure to a "Regional" model during the evaluation phase (Eastern and Western), has increased the number of players training at an elite level.”

The Program will be led by coaches Jackie Tittley and Darrell Devine and will field both a Senior XV and a Development Team, engaging over 48 athletes. Both sides will compete at the Eastern Canadian Rugby Championships hosted by Quebec this June.

“Provincial rugby is an important part of the player pathway,” said Jackie Tittley. “Darrell and I are excited to build on the successes of the regionalized program last year, to expose more athletes to the next level and to work with the high caliber athletes that this province has to offer.”

“By selecting a Senior Blues and a Blues Developmental team to represent the province at the Eastern Canadian Rugby Championships, we can increase the standard of competition for our athletes, providing an excellent platform where they can be evaluated by National Team coaches and selectors,” said Paul Connelly.

All athletes who plan to attend the regional trials must be registered with a Rugby Ontario Member Club prior to the event. To register for an upcoming trial date, click here
