 Growing the Game Webinar Workshops

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 17, 2020

(WHITBY, ON) - Rugby Ontario is pleased to announce an update on the Growing the Game Workshops. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and recent suspension of all rugby activities across Canada, this year’s Growing the Game Workshops will be delivered through a series of online webinars. The topics will be separated into two different webinars, each delivered on two different dates through the end of March and early April. One series of webinars will focus on the continued implementation of Rowan’s Law and the Blue Card Program, while the other will focus on recruitment and retention initiatives for Ontario clubs.

The Rowan’s Law and Blue Card workshop will provide an overview of the latest Rowan’s Law requirements put in place by the Government of Ontario, and further introduction of Rugby Ontario’s Blue Card process. Rugby Ontario will highlight the key aspects of the Blue Card process and ensure those involved in junior and senior competitions are aware of the pre-match, in-game and post-match process, as well as critical return-to-play protocols.

The recruitment and retention discussions will focus on how clubs can create an environment that encourages players to try, play and stay in rugby at the community club level. It will be a collaborative discussion where participants will have the opportunity to share best practices and other initiatives within their environment.

The webinar details and registration links for each session are available below. For more information on the Growing the Game Workshops, contact Ryan Jones, Rugby Development Manager at rjones@rugbyontario.com
