Statement on COVID-19: Suspension of Activities Extended

(WHITBY, ON) - Today, Rugby Canada has announced that all sanctioned rugby activities continue to be suspended indefinitely, beyond the March 13th – April 10th, 2020 original suspension. Rugby Ontario fully supports this direction and will continue to work closely with Rugby Canada and the Provincial Unions and follow public health agencies and government legislation. Rugby Ontario is in its own process of active review to assess the potential impact of this suspension to programming and will continue to provide relevant information as it becomes available.
Rugby Ontario CEO Myles Spencer stated: "As we collectively navigate the evolving situation and do our part as a rugby community to stop the spread of COVID-19, Rugby Ontario supports the decision to extend the suspension of sanctioned rugby activities. We all play a role in supporting the public health measures that are in place across Ontario. On behalf of our Board members and staff, we thank the Ontario rugby community for its understanding at this difficult time.

ABOUT THE ONTARIO BLUES
The Ontario Blues program is the high performance representative program for male and female rugby players in Ontario. Rugby Ontario is represented at the provincial level by the Ontario Blues. The program includes representative teams from Under-15 to Senior in both Women’s and Men’s Fifteens and Under-18 Men's and Women's Sevens. Specifically, the program is designed to develop and showcase rugby players for Canadian representative national teams.
