(WHITBY, ON) - Rugby Ontario would like to thank its members for the contributions thus far in the strategic planning process through the member engagement sessions held in April and June. We are committed to providing opportunities to engage with our community and value the input from all stakeholders. Together, we have an opportunity to set the course for the future of rugby in Ontario founded on the diverse feedback and perspective we are receiving through these consultations.
Rugby Ontario once again invites community stakeholders representing our Member Clubs, Branches and rugby participants to join us for a series of four (4) topic-based engagement sessions.
An overview of the purpose and outcomes of these sessions is below. Please note session-specific details, including discussion points and themes will be made available in advance of each session on the Rugby Ontario website:
Format
The Rugby Ontario Strategic Planning Community Sessions will take place via Zoom Webinar and will be a combination of facilitated discussion and Q&A, focused on specific topics and themes.
Purpose of Engagement Session
1. To create an environment for active community engagement soliciting stakeholder perspective and feedback.
2. To hear from the membership about their vision for the future of Rugby in Ontario.
3. To identify the core strategic pillars that will become the foundation of the next Rugby Ontario Strategic Plan.
Topics / Themes
Each Community Session will be focused on specific topics / themes that have been identified through the previous consultations (surveys and town halls). The Community Sessions topics are:
• Inspiring Youth Rugby Development and Participation (Grassroots Development)
• Developing High Performance
• Building Accessibility and Participation
• Supporting club Development
Composition of Participants
The Community Sessions will be facilitated by a member of Rugby Ontario’s Strategic Planning Task Force and a representative of the Branch Council. It is intended that participants will include stakeholders representing a variety of interests and functions within the rugby community, including:
• Club & Branch Representatives (executive members and administrators)
• Community Coaches (grassroots and high performance)
• Match Officials
• Volunteers & Parents
• Minor, Junior and Senior league / competition convenors
• Rugby participants (all levels)
• Club alumni
Key Outcomes
By participating in the Strategic Planning Community Session process, participants will:
1. Provide input to ensure relevant representation and diversity of the communities we serve within the next Strategic Plan.
2. Assist in determining the priorities for the strategic direction of the organization.
3. Understand the unique needs, perspectives and expectations of all members across all segments.
