Additional Pay Information

Mileage Claims:

Rugby Ontario will be submitting mileage claims on behalf of the following for all regular season and playoff matches:

  • Match Officials
  • Coach of Match Officials
  • Performance Reviewers

Mileage will be pulled from SportLoMo (be sure your postal code is accurate in the system) on the first of each month for the appointments from the previous month. Referees will receive $0.20/km for any round trip of 51km or more. Please note that referee mileage will be capped at $150 per fixture for the 2022 season.

Referees will be appointed as locally as possible. A referee will not receive mileage when appointed outside their region because the referee has informed appointers that their personal schedule has taken them outside their region but, they would still like to officiate.

Only referees who are registered with Rugby Canada and Rugby Ontario, and are appointed through SportLoMo are eligible to receive mileage payment.

Mileage is not provided for Exhibition game appointments.

Notification of payment will occur by the 15th of the month following the appointments (i.e. May appointments will be pulled June 1st and notification sent by June 15th).

Notifications of payment will be through email using Plooto (www.plooto.co). When you receive an email from Plooto, know it is safe to follow to the outlined instructions to receive your payment from the Ontario Rugger Union.

If you have any questions about payment, please email courses@rugbyontario.com.

Statement On Covid-19: Suspension Of Rugby Activities

(WHITBY, ON) – Rugby Ontario has been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in response to growing concerns and public health directives, a decision has been made to suspend all rugby activities effective from midnight March 13, 2020 until at least April 10, 2020. During this time, no sanctioned rugby activity is permitted, including training sessions.

“Rugby Ontario’s number one priority is the safety and well-being of players, coaches, officials, volunteers, employees and parents participating in our sport across Ontario,” said Rugby Ontario CEO Myles Spencer. “The rugby community is a strong and resilient one, and we hope to see everyone enjoying the sport they love again very soon. We encourage all members to take care and stay in good health during this unprecedented time.”
