Olympic Rugby Sevens Schedule & Preview

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are underway! For the second time in Olympic history, Rugby Sevens will be featured at the games. Both the Canadian Men’s and Women’s Sevens squads will be competing in Tokyo 2020. The Men’s side will be making their Olympic debut, while the Women’s squad will be looking to build off their Bronze Medal finish at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.  

WHERE TO WATCH

CBC Canada is the home of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics! The network will be providing live television coverage throughout the games, and also offer free streaming access on all their platforms, which includes CBC Gem, CBC.ca and the CBC Olympics app. TSN and Sportsnet will also be providing live coverage of events throughout the games. WHEN TO WATCH

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics begin today, Friday, July 23rd, 2021 and run until August 8th, 2021.

The Olympic Rugby 7s competitions run from July 25th - July 31st, 2021. 

The Men’s Competition runs from July 26th until July 28th. The Women’s competition begins on July 29th and ends on July 31st. The pool matches for both Team Canada’s Men’s and Women’s Rugby Sevens teams are listed below. 

Canada Men’s Olympic Rugby 7s Pool Matches:

Great Britain vs. Canada – Sunday, July 25th (8:30pm ET).

Fiji vs. Canada – Monday, July 26th (4:00am ET).

Canada vs. Japan – Monday, July 26th (8:00pm ET).

Canada vs. Brazil – Wednesday, July 28th (8:30pm ET).

Canada vs. Fiji – Thursday, July 29th (3:30am ET).

Clubs looking to engage new players have the opportunity to host “Come & Try Rugby” events! Each Rugby Club in Ontario can access 1 FREE Come & Try Event per calendar year. The goal of the event is to offer a session where kids, youths and/or adults can Come & Try non-contact rugby activities!
