Barb Relton Di Nardo awarded Sovereign Medal for Volunteers

(WHITBY, ON) - Rugby Ontario would like to congratulate Barb Relton Di Nardo, who on April 21st, 2022, received the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers, presented by the Governor General in Ottawa. By definition, the medal recognizes the “exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields and pays tribute to the dedication and commitment of volunteers.”
Bard has been involved in rugby since 1989, when she began her playing career with the Toronto Saracens. Since then, Barb has been involved at all levels of rugby, serving as a coach, fundraiser and club executive. She has previously been a part of the Rugby Ontario Board of Directors and was one of the driving forces behind the founding of the Toronto-Inner City Rugby Foundation and Toronto City Youth Rugby Club. Today, Barb still serves as an executive for Toronto City Youth Rugby Club and continues to be an integral part of the Ontario rugby community.

An inductee into the Rugby Ontario Hall of Fame in 2017, Barb embodies the values of rugby and is a role model for future generations of community sport volunteers."
