Rowan's Law Day

September 28th, 2022

(Whitby, ON) - Today is Rowan's Law Day. Rowan’s Law protects amateur athletes by improving concussion safety. The legislation is named in honour of Rowan Stringer, a 17-year-old Ottawa rugby player who died tragically in 2013 from second impact syndrome (catastrophic swelling of the brain). Rowan’s Law legislation was passed by the Ontario Government in 2018. The legislation is designed to create a safer environment for competitive amateur athletes, children and youth to play sport. Rugby Ontario is committed to being a leader in the support of and implementation of Rowan’s Law. Rugby Ontario and by association all our Member Clubs and registrants are legally bound by the requirements of the Law. To learn more about Rowan's Law, visit the Rugby Ontario Rowan's Law
