Rob McQueen Named Rugby Development Officer

(WHITBY, ON) - Rugby Ontario is pleased to announce the hiring of Rob McQueen as Rugby Development Officer through the support of Rugby Canada and the National Rugby Development Officer Network. Stationed in the South West region of the province, Rob will support four clubs and the communities they serve in the Southwest Rugby Union (London St. George, Middlesex-Huron Youth, Sarnia Saints, and Kent Havoc).
"Rugby in the Southwest of Ontario has so much untapped potential, it is truly exciting to finally have a dedicated development position offered to support the selected clubs in the Southwest,” said Rob McQueen. “I am very grateful to be selected to serve in this role and I have a lot of passion to see it succeed. I hope to lay the foundations for many years of growth in participation and a thriving rugby community in the Southwest."
"Supporting the club community is an important pillar in our strategic plan, so we are excited to be able to provide this resource to expand rugby in Southwestern Ontario,” said Jocelyn Poirier, Rugby Development Manager for Rugby Ontario. “Rob is well connected in the target area through his extensive experience as a coach, administrator, and volunteer at many levels of the game. In addition to this wealth of experience he brings an incredible passion for this work and desire to bring people together through the sport of rugby.”
In his role as Rugby Development Officer, Rob will be responsible for supporting club development and increasing both player and non-player participation, development, and retention. Rob has already begun work bringing rugby into classrooms across the area and assisting local clubs in developing relationships with their community partners.
