Formed in 1999, the purpose of the Rugby Ontario Hall of Fame is to honour and perpetuate the names and accomplishments of players, coaches, officials, and members of the provincial rugby community whose dedication and competitive achievements have brought lasting fame to the sport of rugby in Ontario.
To date, 96 individuals and five teams have been inducted into the Rugby Ontario Hall of Fame.

With over 40 years of dedicated involvement in amateur rugby, in Ontario and across Canada, Richard “Rick” Powers has left an indelible mark on the rugby community through his exceptional contributions as a player, administrator, and leader.
Throughout Rick’s distinguished career, he has consistently demonstrated a remarkable commitment to the growth and development of amateur rugby in Canada. As a player, he exemplified the spirit and values that define rugby, inspiring many with his dedication and passion for the sport. He played for the Brantford Harlequins, Queen’s University Gaels, Kingston Panthers, and also played and served as the Club President from 1995-2000 for the Ajax Wanderers. Currently, he continues to support all these rugby clubs in various ways.

Johnny Watkins has been a consistent contributor to the sport of rugby for over 30 years as a player, coach and builder. In 1988, Johnny started playing junior rugby with the Oshawa Vikings Rugby Club and joined the club executive in 1995.
Since 1999, Johnny has had a senior role with the Vikings, leading and developing the organization. In 1999, the Vikings membership was under 100 members and was only running a few teams. Through Johnny’s leadership and contributions in 2025, the Vikings Rugby Club is one of the largest rugby clubs in North America with 700 members , and teams at all age grades and abilities.
