As part of the Rugby Development Network, in 2024, Rugby Ontario began a Technical Game Leader (TGL) pilot project aimed at supporting a foundation of rugby educators, informed coaches, and thriving programs. Targeted for minor, beginner introductions, and non-contact (T1) rugby, this three-phase project works to build innovative, world-class curriculum resources and train game leaders in coaching development throughout our entire education and development pathway.

The initial phase of this program involved identifying initial Technical Game Leaders and beginning the process of building an extensive and informed curriculum using sources from around the world. Now, Rugby Ontario is proud to announce the continued development of the TGL program and the movement of the project into its second phase: Resource Refinement and Pilot Projects.

Outlined in the graphic below, the second phase of the TGL project will focus on training Game Leaders in time for the start of the minor season and potential school outreach projects.

If you or your club are interested in getting involved with the TGL program, learning more about the project, or understanding what resources are available or being created, please contact our Rugby Development Officer, Rob McQueen, at rmcqueen@rugbyontario.com.
