To encourage the continued development of coaching and player pathways within the province, Rugby Ontario has been working to implement Development Days within existing minor rugby festivals. On July 25th, 2026, we held our first official Development Day clinic during Guelph RFC’s minor rugby festival.

Using gamification techniques to teach young athletes key rugby skills and develop their game, Rugby Ontario’s Development Officer, Rob McQueen, Rugby Canada representatives, and game leaders from the Ontario Blues’ U17 team led Minor Development sessions for U8 and Try T1 sessions for U10 age grades. Teaching passing and running skills, T1 tackle triangles, and more, athletes gained hands-on rugby skills, while coaches learned more about the Game Leader program and Rugby Ontario’s development plans.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make Development Day a success and to everyone who took part! If you want to learn more, attend, or host a Development Day at your club, reach out to Rugby Ontario’s development team now!
