Ontario Blues Development Academy (OBDA) Update!

We hope you’ve all had a great fall season and enjoyed the Combine and Interbranch 7s Series. Thank you for your hard work, commitment, and energy throughout these events — your performances have provided valuable insight into athlete development across the province.
We wanted to share that the Ontario Blues Development Academy (OBDA) selections will be finalized and communicated in late November via the Rugby Ontario Website:
Ontario Jr. Blues 7s Girls (U15/U17) – November 21st, 2025
Ontario Jr. Blues 7s Boys (U15/U17) – November 21st, 2025
Ontario Jr. Blues 15s Girls (West and Central) – November 28th, 2025
- East will be released on December 12th, 2025
Ontario Jr. Blues 15s Boys (West and Central) – November 28th, 2025
- East will be released on December 19th, 2025
OBDA schedules will be shared at the same time athlete selections are posted.
This will mark the next step in Rugby Ontario’s High-Performance pathway, focusing on continued player growth and preparation for future provincial and national opportunities. In the meantime, we encourage all athletes to stay active, continue their individual training, and keep building on the skills and habits developed throughout the season.

Minor Rugby Working Group Expression of Interest
Rugby Ontario is seeking individuals interested in joining the Minor Rugby Working Group.
This group plays an important advisory role, supportingRugby Ontario’s operations staff in the growth and development of Minor Rugby (U4–U10) across the province. It aligns directly with our strategic pillars to Support the Club Community and Build Belonging.
As a member of the Minor Rugby Working Group, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Contribute to planning and recommendations for the Minor Rugby season
- Represent diverse voices and lived experiences in the rugby community
- Provide feedback on the grassroots experience for youth athletes
- Help shape policies that impact the long-term growth of the game
We are looking for individuals who can think provincially, work collaboratively, and bring thoughtful perspectives on grassroots sport development. Representation across branches, demographics, and rugby roles is key to the success of this group.

The Marshall 2025: A New Era of Rugby in Ontario
2025 isn’t just another season.

This year, the Marshall competition launches a bold new structure featuring two new divisions designed to raise the standard of play and provide more meaningful matchups across the province:
Premiership
Top-tier rugby. Elite competition. The best of the best battling it out all season, capped off by the iconic McCormick Cup Playoffs.
Championship
Opportunity. Grit. Ascent. A proving ground for rising clubs, with a pathway to promotion through the newly introduced Championship Cup.
New rivalries. New regional intensity. And the stakes? Higher than ever, with promotion and relegation at the heart of the competition.
Kickoff: May 10th, 2025
The season begins May 10, running through to late summer with cross-division play, knockout stages, and the kind of high-stakes drama Ontario rugby deserves.
