LANGFORD — Canada’s women’s sevens head coach John Tait has named a 14-player training camp squad ahead of the Sydney Sevens.

The team will head to Narrabeen, Australia to train before a final 12-player team will be selected for the Sydney Sevens on January 29th.

Britt Benn, Hannah Darling, Bianca Farella, Sara Kaljuvee, Julia Greenshields, Ghislaine Landry, Megan Lukan, Kayla Moleschi, Breanne Nicholas, Ashley Steacy, Natasha Watcham-Roy and Charity Williams all return from Canada’s Dubai Sevens squad.

Jen Kish, who missed the Dubai tournament due to injury, returns for the first time since captaining Canada to bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics while Kaili Lukan, who could make her series debut if selected, is also named.

Canada is coming off of a sixth place finish in the series opening tournament in Dubai last December.

Canada has been drawn into Pool A in Sydney where they will face New Zealand, France and Papa New Guinea.

The tournament takes place Feb. 2-3 in Canada due to the time difference and can be seen LIVE on www.worldrugby.org
