February 28th, 2022

(WHITBY, ON) - It is with mixed emotions, Rugby Ontario is announcing today that Joe Schissler will be leaving the organization to pursue another job opportunity. Joe will step down from his role as the Competitions, Events and Marketing Manager effective March 2nd, 2022.

Joe started with Rugby Ontario in 2016, serving as the Sponsorship & Fundraising Intern. From there, Joe has occupied many roles with the organization, most notably as the Competitions, Events, and Marketing Manager, which has been his title since 2018. Joe has been an incredibly valuable member of the Rugby Ontario organization and has been helped to facilitate and grow the sport all across the province. Despite leaving the organization, Joe plans to stay involved in the rugby community both as a player and a match official. In addition to playing and refereeing Joe is currently the Vice-President with the Cobourg Saxons RFC.

“The past 6 years working with Rugby Ontario has been an amazing experience for me, both personally and professionally. Working alongside a dedicated group of staff members who have become friends has made coming into work something that I’ve looked forward to” said Joe. “In addition to the staff within the office, the rugby community is unlike any other sporting community I have experienced. There is so much passion within all Ontario rugby clubs, and it is that passion that drives our sport forward. I truly want to thank everyone that I have worked with throughout my time here at Rugby Ontario, I look forward to seeing you at a rugby pitch in the near future!”

“On behalf of Rugby Ontario, I wish to thank Joe for his significant contributions to the organization and throughout the rugby community right across Ontario,” said Myles Spencer, CEO of Rugby Ontario.  “Joe has played an integral role in supporting our club community through his leadership in managing Rugby Ontario’s leagues, competitions and events portfolio.  Our entire team is grateful for his dedication to growing rugby in Ontario, and we know he’ll continue to make an impact for years to come.”

Rugby Ontario would like to thank Joe for all he has done for rugby in Ontario, we wish him all the best in his next chapter!
