Canadian Rugby Championship Day 2 Recap

(Saskatoon SK) After a disappointing opener, the Ontario Blues U19 Blues hit their stride against the Prairie Blizzard, running in 10 tries against a highly motivated host team. The victory puts the U19 Blues into good shape for a berth into the semi final, though their seed will depend on the result of today’s matchup between the Blizzard and the Rock. A balanced attack saw tries coming through Dominic Johnson (2), Kevin Oh, Aaron Pacha, Jack Shaw, Braden Bruce, Talen De St. Croix, Mason Flesch, Liam Geddes & Max Goodwin, while Ty Webb hit three conversions and Johnson one.

The Ontario Blues Senior Women unfortunately lost to Rugby Quebec in their Canadian Rugby Championship opener by a score of 36-22. The Senior Women went back and forth with Quebec for most of the match. The game was extremely physical, and the pace of play was quite fast. The forwards got it done in the scoring department with Colleen Irowa, Veronica Harrigan and Lauren Walkden all scoring. Lauren McEwen hit two conversions and Irene Patrinos slotted a penalty. The Senior Women are looking to have a different result in their next match with the Prairie Wolfpack on Thursday.
